When one has the happy burden of having too many lovely friends one needs to be creative in how appreciation and thanks is given at the festive season (ie buying that many presents is a bit silly!) So last Christmas I forwent the perils of present giving and invited my nearest and dearest to a gingerbread making party. Each guest was given a lump of dough, a bag of white royal icing and a paper plate to sit their creation upon.
The table was laden with as many different types of sweeties as I could find, biscuit cutters (including tiny ginger bread men to inhabit the newly constructed abodes) and a number of different ginger bread house patterns.
With cheesy Christmas carols playing in the background, the smell of baking ginger bread and me head to toe in Christmas garb it was as Pickle described " Christmas ground zero" and how resplendent it was. High from ingesting so much sugar my newly recruited elves and I practically baked a little city. Alas I was negligent in making sure I photographed each house so I have but a small selection for your viewing pleasure. Recipes to come!
